Barcelona show interest to sign a budding French midfielder

Barcelona have decided against renewing contracts for some of their players.

Barcelona have decided to sell Ivan Rakitic and Arturu Vidal in the upcoming transfer window. Even though, the duo has displayed great performances over the past few seasons and have helped the Spanish giants win many titles the club has decided to sell their experienced players in order to sign younger players who could serve the club for a longer period of time.

Quique Setien has been heavily linked with many midfielders over the past few weeks but the club hasn’t been able to add any midfielders to the squad till now. This is because the 2018-2019 La Liga champions have decided to spend most of their limited transfer budget to sign Neymar and Lautaro Martinez which is turning out be an extremely expensive move.

Barcelona have shown interest to sign Matteo Guendouzi.

According to the Metro, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Leicester City have shown interest to sign the 21-year-old Frenchman Guendouzi from Arsenal. The budding midfielder has shown great growth over the last 2 seasons and has enhanced the Gunners game by adding both creativity in attacks as well as a defensive support to the backline of the squad. Guendouzi has an estimated market value of around 40 million euros and a contract that keeps him at Mikel Arteta’s side till 2022. Many believe that the Frenchman would like to leave the club in the near future in order to compete for titles as well as play in the Champions League on a more regular basis.

The Catalan giants must try to sign the budding midfielder as he has the potential to develop into a player who could potentially play like Bayern Munich’s Thiago Alcantara who is considered as one of the best midfielders in the world. Signing Guendouzi in the upcoming transfer window will help the club by adding depth to the midfield which could enhance performances of Sergio Busquets and Frenkie de Jong in the heart of Barcelona’s midfield.
