Barcelona should opt to make Ansu Fati a regular alongside Lionel Messi.

Barcelona are struggling to break through the opposition’s defense as evident in the matches against Sevilla and Bilbao that ended 0-0 and 1-0 respectively. The draw against Nervionenses resulted in Real Madrid taking over as La Liga leaders.

Ansu Fati was strangely omitted in the match against Sevilla that many believed could have been in the Catalan’s favor if boss Quique Setien had chosen Fati to play. What was even more surprising was Setien only making three substitutions from the potential five with the first one coming in the 63rd minute.

Ignoring the Sevilla match that failed to feature Fati, it was the games against Leganes and Athletic Bilbao that showcased the 17-year-old’s immense talent and potential. The arrival of both Riqui Puig and Ansu truly changed the dynamic of the game against Bilbao as Setien’s squad was seen struggling to break through the oppositions.

The two La Masia graduates displayed their passion and desire to make a difference which allowed the 71st-minute goal by Ivan Rakitic that not only involved Lionel Messi’s brilliance but also the two youngsters’.

Both Antoine Griezmann and Luis Suarez were chosen to start alongside Messi. Griezmann has already started 3 out of the 4 matches while Suarez has played 3 since his return from injury. Ansu Fati, however, has only featured for 2 matches, where the youngster outperformed the two superstars at Camp Nou.

Fati played 25 minutes against Club Athletic, where the teenager made 11 passes which were all successful. During this time, the 17-year-old also managed to make two shots. He had 22 touches that allowed him to make the incredibly positive contribution which the fans witnessed.

Sport reveals the numbers from Blaugrana’s match against Bilbao that clearly proved how Fati’s performance compared to his teammates, except Messi who undoubtedly had a positive influence.
