Meanwhile, Quique Setien’s Barca looked awful against Athletic Bilbao and the Catalans were lucky to edge past Athletic Bilbao as Ivan Rakitic scored the only goal of the game. With 7 games left in the remainder of the league, it seems like Real Madrid are the favourites to win their 34th La Liga title given their current form and squad depth.
Leo Messi demands sweet revenge from Real Madrid
Since Real Madrid might just win the La Liga this season and Barcelona might finish the season trophyless. Barca’s captain, Lionel Messi, has demanded the signing of Ajax midfielder, Donny van de Beek from Ajax Amsterdam, according to the International Business Times.
The Argentine captain of Barca believes that the addition of the 23-year-old midfielder from the Netherlands would prove to be pivotal at the club to ensure success as Van de Beek could pair up with Frenkie de Jong once again just like their days at Ajax.
Donny van de Beek has been heavily linked to a move to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer and has a rumoured asking price worth 45 million euros, a figure that is not too much given the young midfielder’s quality.
Arthur Melo might be on his way out to Juventus and the 23-year-old Ajax Amsterdam superstar might be the perfect replacement that Barca requires to add creativity and youth to their aged squad. Would you want to see De Jong pair up once again with Van de Beek at the Camp Nou? Maybe the duo could once again replicate their fine form that had marveled the world in the 2018/19 season.
What do you make of the possible signing of the Ajax superstar?
