Barcelona continue their poor business with players.

Barcelona continue making plans for the summer as they eye a revamp of their squad. Quique Setien wants to add a striker and defender to his roster, but the board is also keen on adding midfielders to cater for the probable departures of Arturo Vidal and Ivan Rakitic. Arsenal player Matteo Guendouzi has been identified as a target, Daily Mail claims.

More from Everything Barca

Matteo Guendouzi has been decent for the Gunners, but over the last couple of months his quality deteriorated as a result of his attitude. Things got worse for the Frenchman when he taunted Brighton players over their low wages in Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat to the Seagulls following which he was axed by Mikel Arteta against Southampton.

Reports now claim that Guendouzi has decided to leave the Emirates Stadium after a breakdown in relations. Barcelona are keen on signing him for his defensive abilities and will need to compete against the likes of Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan to get their hands on the former Lorient man.

Guendouzi is the worst signing that Barca can make

Quique Setien’s side requires a defensive midfielder and Guendouzi, who is originally a central midfielder can fit into the role as a backup and probably a potential successor for Sergio Busquets. At 40 million euros, he is an affordable signing for the Catalans but not ideal considering his attitude and just everything about him.

First, a player with a nasty attitude and egoistic nature is the last thing that the Blaugrana need. They already have several big personalities in their roster, so things cannot be made to heat up any further. Moreover, Guendouzi is not a player of Barca’s calibre by any means and he would be nothing but another waste of a signing.

At this point in time, Josep Maria Bartomeu has already sanctioned a deal for Miralem Pjanic wherein he’ll exchange Arthur Melo. The La Liga giants will be beneficiaries of just 10 million euros in cash. The move pending official confirmation is the worst possible transfer that the club could make with regard to its present circumstances and squad.
