The ongoing negotiations between Barcelona and Inter Milan

The negotiations between Barcelona and Inter Milan have been going on for over months as the Catalans are adamant on signing Lautaro Martinez who has been Antonio Conte‘s star player this season.

More from Everything Barca

Earlier, the Blaugrana were prepared to offer Arturo Vidal along with 90 million euros for Lautaro Martinez, however, the Italian team rejected the offer and demanded Antoine Griezmann to be included in the deal as well as a loan player. The board at Barca reviewed the revised offer and rejected the offer since losing out on two key players along with 90 million euros was not a feasible option for the board.

Given the current condition that the Spanish giants face the only shot the board had at raising money for the summer was by selling either Arthur Melo, Ousmane Dembele, and Philippe Coutinho since these three players still have a high market value.

However, Juventus and Barcelona have already closed in on a grand transfer that would see Miralem Pjanic move to the Camp Nou and rather Arthur Melo switch to the Allianz Stadium.

With Arthur Melo out of the picture, the Blaugrana have no hope of raising cash this summer through player sales since neither of the clubs interested in Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele are willing to break the bank.

So what about Lautaro Martinez signing for Barca?

According to SPORT, the incompetent board led by Josep Maria Bartomeu has considered signing Edinson Cavani this summer as a free transfer as his contract runs out with Paris Saint-Germain. Although, the former Napoli striker is a world-class lethal marksman on his best days, however, the Blaugrana do not require another 33-year-old injury-prone striker as they already have Luis Suarez who is currently in the same condition.

It would be foolish to write the possibility of Cavani signing for Barca off this season since Josep Maria Bartomeu has a reputation for making unnecessary flop signings. Do you think Edinson Cavani would be the next Miralem Pjanic at the Camp Nou? an unwanted figure?
