Barcelona seek redemption after losing their target to Bayern Munich

Barcelona and Real Madrid were both heavily linked with Manchester City’s pacey German winger, Leroy Sane. The former Bundesliga man had made his intentions clear that he has no plans of extending his contract further at the Etihad Stadium and wants a move out this summer.

More from Everything Barca

Since the German winger is on contract with the Sky Blues until 2021, the board at Manchester City has considered that it would be the best option to sell the player this season for a hefty price rather than losing him out on a free transfer next year.

All the rumours currently point towards the left-footed winger signing for Bayern Munich, however, reports from SPORT claim that Bayern Munich has now put a halt on the negotiations after the German club has considered signing the player in the summer of 2021 on a free transfer rather than breaking the bank this July.

Since Bayern Munich will not be signing Leroy Sane this year, it is Barcelona’s golden shot at signing the 24-year-old winger who is desperate to leave England.

Would the addition of Leroy Sane benefit Barcelona?

The quality that Leroy Sane has displayed at Schalke 04 and at Manchester City under Pep Guardiola, it is beyond a questionable doubt to not believe that the German forward would not be beneficial addition at the Camp Nou for Quique Setien.

The 24-year-old Manchester City man can be deployed on either of the wings because, in his earlier days at Schalke 04, Sane would play as a right-winger that would facilitate his movement to cut in from the flanks and have a shot on goal with his left foot. However, under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, Sane has often been played as a left-winger and despite the change in position, the German forward has proven to be pivotal in both the Premier League championship campaigns for Pep Guardiola.

The former Bundesliga man could be the perfect successor along with Jadon Sancho to replace Lionel Messi at Barca who has now entered the final years of his career and has shown signs of slowing down due to this age.

Sane has missed out on all action this season after rupturing his ACL in the community shield match against Liverpool, however, City went on to win the game on penalties. So far in his career, the 24-year-old has scored 47 goals as a left-winger and 10 goals as a right-winger, such is the versatility that the German forward can provide at the Camp Nou.

An ideal offer from the Catalans would be to offer either Antoine Griezmann or Ousmane Dembele to Manchester City in exchange for Leroy Sane plus cash. What do you make of this offer? Would you want to see the Premier League superstar at the Camp Nou this summer?
