More from Everything Barca

Barcelona have been heavily linked to sign world-class defenders in the upcoming transfer window as they have not been efficient while defending this season. However, the Spanish giants have not signed any defender till now and have been struggling to allocate sufficient funds to do so.

Quique Setien has shown a lot interest to sign Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli. The 29-year-old Senegal international can be considered as one best central defenders in the world and has an estimated market value of 60 million euros. Napoli have stated that they will be willing to hear offers of around 90 million euros for their star defender.

Manchester City are on the verge of signing Koulibaly.

According to the Sun, there are rumors that Manchester City are on the verge to sign the world class central defender and have offered Napoli 72 million euros in order to sign their superstar. Further, Koulibaly has shown desire to leave the Italian club in order to work under Pep Guardiola in England in the upcoming season. Other big European clubs such as Manchester United and PSG who have been heavily linked to sign the defender might try and lure the player away from Pep Guardiola by offering deals with better financial incentives to Napoli.

Barcelona will find it tough to sign Koulibaly with their limited transfer budget and thus must try and offer players such as Samule Umtiti, Junior Firpo, Ivan Rakitic and Arturo Vidal to the Italian club in order to reduce their asking price for the defender. If Napoli reject this proposal the Spanish club should offer to sign Koulibaly on a season long loan deal with a buyout clause similar to the deal that Philippe Coutinho has with Bayern Munich this season.
