Barcelona are shell shocked after Lionel Messi demands his firing
Messi demands immediate action at Barcelona following the draw against Celta Vigo
Barcelona had traveled to the Estadio de Balaidos to take on Celta Vigo after scrapping past Athletic Bilbao at the Camp Nou as Ivan Rakitic scored the only goal that game. Quique Setien’s men looked sharp in the initial few minutes as Luis Suarez opened the scoresheet for the Catalans by scoring a free header after Lionel Messi crossed the ball from his free-kick towards the South American striker.

However, like the saying goes ” you are most vulnerable when you score” Celta Vigo picked themselves back up after conceding the first goal and had several goal scoring chances that were either missed or were blocked by the German wall of Catalonia, Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
At the 50th minute of the game, Celta Vigo found the equaliser after launching a quick counter-attack that was finished off by Fyodor Smolov, however, Barca pulled themselves together and Luis Suarez fired home another goal from a Lionel Messi pass. The former Liverpool striker’s goal seemed like to be the nail in the coffin for Oscar Garcia’s men and it seemed like the Catalans would finally win their first game at the Balaidos since 2015.
As mentioned earlier, Quique Setien’s men were caught napping after Suarez slotted home his second goal of the game. The introduction of Rafinha Alcantara proved crucial for Oscar Garcia as the Barca loanee was all over the field for Celta Vigo and in the dying minutes of the game, Iago Aspas curved in a powerful free-kick from the edge of the box to level the game.
The draw against Celta Vigo has given Real Madrid a 2 point cushion and tonight Zinedine Zidane‘s men take on Barca’s local rivals, RCD Espanyol and it seems like Real are going to run riot given their current form. Lionel Messi has possibly lost out on the chance of lifting his 10th La Liga title and according to Diaro GOL, the captain of the club has asked for the sacking of Quique Setien.
The replacement Messi desires are either Xavi or Guardiola
Lionel Messi highly rates both the former Barcelona footballer’s and has conveyed the message to the board that the appointment of Xavi or Pep Guardiola for the upcoming season will prove crucial for the club to find its winning ways again after the club has hit rock bottom under Ernesto Valverde and now Quique Setien.
What do you make of Lionel Messi’s demands? Is Quique Setien the ideal coach for Barca?
