Juventus midfielder linked with a move to Barcelona has a regrettable past.

Barcelona are currently trading Arthur Melo, for Juventus midfielder, Miralem Pjanic, but the Bosnian international has a regrettable past that might cause some issues.

More from Everything Barca

The Barca bound midfielder started his decade long Serie A career when former Blaugrana coach, Luis Enrique, signed him from Lyon during his coaching days with A. S. Roma. Pjanic spent five seasons at Stadio Olimpico, from 2011 to 2016, and it was during his time there that he revealed his favourite team to the newspaper, Oslobodjenje.

The Bosnian, now regrettably, revealed that he is a Real Madrid fan saying,

"“Now I am happy at Roma but I don’t know if I’ll leave or not in the summer. If they ask me for my favourite team, I will tell them that as a kid I always liked Real Madrid,” Pjanic said.Source Sport"

Pjanic has many factors working against him, with one of the main issues being his age. At 30 years of age, the midfielder at best has three to five more seasons to give to the Catalans while Arthur Melo could have been a permanent solution to the midfield issues.

Secondly, the trade between Arthur and Pjanic is despised by the Barca fans with many believing that this decision was a board/political one and not a sporting improvement. This will not sit well in the long run as any negative contribution or performance from Pjanic will result in heavy criticism for the Bosnian.

On top of these factors, this latest disclosure of his past being linked with arch-rivals Real Madrid might further fuel hatred for the midfielder who had recently revealed his dream of securing a move to Barca in order to play alongside Lionel Messi.

Would this matter affect how Barca fans will perceive the Pjanic signing?
