Barcelona ace, Lionel Messi is inching closer to the day of the ultimate departure from the club.

As per IBT, Barcelona’s interest in their former La Masia player has rekindled. The thinktank at Camp Nou has been keeping a close watch on Luka Romero whose playing style closely resembles that of Messi on many fronts. The midfielder currently plays for Mallorca.

It seems as if those involved at the helm are in no mood to let go of potential superstars like they did with Alphonso Davies, who has established himself as one of the upcoming superstar of the game. Takefusa Kubo, widely hailed as the ‘Japanese Messi’ is now residing in Madrid and is currently out on loan. He was a La Masia graduate as well.

Both, Romero and Messi share quite a few similarities. For instance, both of them sport the famous number 10 and have spent most of their football career in Spain. And what’s even more surprising is that both of them are left-footed and are playmakers. It is believed that the coaches at Barcelona did decide to try and bring him back to the club once he was old enough for a return. It does seem the time  has come for the much awaited return. It also has to be mentioned that the Blaugranes are not likely to face any resistance from 15 year-old as just like Messi, he loves Barcelona as well.

Not long ago, Luka became the youngest ever player to set foot on a La Liga pitch and that itself speaks volumes about his potential. The Catalan giants should not hesitate from investing in youth as that will hold them in good stead for the future when the time does come for Messi to leave the club or hang up his boots. Romero is a versatile player and the sooner he is brought in, the better as he will be able to learn from the greatest left-footed player and will be able to understand his role better.

Barcelona also need to keep a close eye on Suarez, whose gameplay isn’t what it used to be a point of time and the reason is his age. Lautaro Martinez has been touted as one of the rising stars of the game and is already among the top strikers. The squad does need a revamp and it is a no brainier. Some fresh and energetic legs need to be brought in.
