Barcelona heavily linked with the return of a legend to take over Setien.

Quique Setien’s future becomes increasingly uncertain as former managerial target, Ronald Koeman, is seen moving in a new home in Barcelona.

More from Everything Barca

Barca’s current manager has come under a lot of criticism for his lineup, formation, tactical, and substitution decisions. There is a clear belief that the dressing room have turned on their coaching staff and do not agree with their philosophies.

While reports have claimed that the recent meeting between club’s president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, sporting director, and the coach was kept to discuss Setien’s future while offering him their complete support, the reality of the matter is that the manager’s latest performance is slowly pushing him towards his eventual sacking.

While there are at least 8 possible replacements for Setien at Barca, Bartomeu has reportedly made his decision.

Former assistant coach under Louis Van Gaal and a legendary player for Blaugrana, Ronald Koeman, has been reported as the favorite to land the job. The 57-year-old is currently under contract with the Netherland national team but has a special clause in his contract that allows him to leave his Dutch side for one club and one club only, Barca.

Daily Mail reports that Koeman was recently seen moving into a new house in town on Tuesday. He was previously one of the favorites to take over Ernesto Valverde, but his employment with the Dutch team meant that it was not possible.

While he was allowed to join the Catalan giants after Euro 2020, the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has shifted the tournament to 2021. It remains to be seen if Bartomeu could actually sign the Dutch international before his tenure as the club’s president comes to an end.
