Barcelona are on the verge on committing a serious irreversible blunder

The board at Barcelona continue to grow their reputation as jokers in the transfer market after rumours state that the Catalan club has offered Antoine Griezmann in exchange for a double swap deal from Juventus after already selling 24-year-old Arthur Melo and signing 30-year-old Miralem Pjanic in return.

More from Everything Barca

Adrien Rabiot and Douglas Costa of Juventus would be the two players that would switch clubs with Barca’s Antoine Griezmann this summer according to the rumour. The former Atletico Madrid forward has not had the sunniest of days at the Camp Nou since he has been played out of position in most fixtures and is currently competing with Martin Braithwaite and Luis Suarez for a starting place.

The family of the French football took to social media to display their dissent towards Barcelona after Griezmann was given less than five minutes against his former side that ended in a disappointing draw for the Blaugrana.

Being the third most expensive signing in the history of the club, Griezmann has not shied away from admitting the pressure he receives and deals with to perform day in and day out, however, the 135 million dollar striker has only managed to score 8 goals and provide 4 assists in 32 matches in the La Liga Santander for Barca.

Josep Maria Bartomeu and Eric Abidal considered that offering the marquee signing of the summer in a swap deal for Adrien Rabiot and Douglas Costa would prove to be beneficial for the club.

However, the swap deal is absolutely unnecessary

The former Real Sociedad forward is the only shot Barca have at replacing Luis Suarez since the club lacks the fund to sign any other prolific goalscorer such as Lautaro Martinez of Inter Milan who has become a fan favourite at the club.

Although Griezmann is 29-years-old, the 2018 World Cup winner has another couple of seasons left in him to perform at the very top level and probably find the same form he once displayed for Atletico Madrid and the French national team.

The arrival of Adrien Rabiot is certainly not required despite the player being just 25-years-old and Barca having an aging midfield. Rabiot has failed to perform at Juventus this season and there is no reason or explanation as to why he would perform at the Camp Nou where the pressure is double the amount at the Juventus Stadium.

Douglas Costa is a pacey and skillful right-winger that would benefit Barca, however, the Brazilian is 29-years-old and would certainly not agree to secondary/substitute role. The options that Barca could look at for a second choice right-winger could be Lucas Ocampos, Ferran Torres, and Mikel Oyarzabal.

Meanwhile, Griezmann is also linked with Arsenal who is willing to offer several players in exchange along with a sum of money for the French international.
