Barcelona want to sell their start midfielder.

More from Everything Barca

Over the past few weeks, Barcelona have made it clear that the club has no intention to extend Ivan Rakitic’s contract and keep the 32-year-old Croatian international in the Camp Nou. Rakitic has less than a year left with the club as his contract extends up to the June 2021, currently the midfielder has an estimated transfer value of around 20 million euros.

The Croatian midfielder has plans to stay in Barcelona and run his contract out before joining another team as a free transfer to play one of his last few seasons of his career. According to the Sun, Rakitic has displayed that he might be keen to rejoin Sevilla once his contract with the Spanish giants concludes, however many reports suggest that other top European teams might also show interested and approach the playmaker.

Manchester United might try to sign Rakitic.

Barca have decided to reduce the asking price to sign Rakitic over the summer transfer window in hopes to make money from the sale of the player which the club is bound to lose out on if the Croatian international leaves the Camp Nou as a free transfer in the summer of 2021. The Red Devils might show interest in this move as they are reestablishing their midfield in hopes to compete for the Premier League title in a more competitive manner as compared to this season. Even though, the midfielder is heavily linked with a move to Sevilla he might prefer the English side as they have been able to sign world-class players who have put the club on the track to qualify for the Champions League next season and are bound to compete for more silverware in more effective manner in comparison to the Spanish side.

Quique Setien could alternatively try and include the midfielder as part of swap deals along with other players such as Arturo Vidal, Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele to reduce the price of the club’s transfer targets.
