Barcelona and Real Madrid set to battle it for Bayern superstar

Barcelona and Real Madrid are the most popular football clubs in the world and almost every single footballer dreams of playing at the Camp Nou or the Santiago Bernabeu at some point in their career which is the very reason why both the Spanish giants often compete to sign the same players.

Some of the notable players that both the clubs have fiercely competed to sign are David Beckham, Luka Jovic, Andre Gomes, Ronaldinho, Neymar, and so on. The list is almost never-ending since both the Spanish teams have been linked with almost every possible superstar footballer.

However, Diaro GOL claims that both Real Madrid and Barcelona are to set compete once again this summer to sign another superstar. The rumoured player is David Alaba of Bayern Munich, who has reportedly handed in a transfer request to the Bavarian board.

The Austrian international has entered the final 12 months of his contract and has demanded a massive increase in his salary for his contract renewal in the summer of 2021, however, the Bundesliga side is not financially prepared to meet Alaba’s demands and have decided to let the defender leave this summer for a decent price.

The versatile defender has been linked with moves to Inter Milan, Real Madrid, and Barcelona. Antonio Conte has already snatched Achraf Hakimi for just 40 million euros, a sheer bargain for the young right-back’s quality and potential. Since Conte plays a 3-5-2 formation with Inter Milan, the former Chelsea manager believes that the addition of David Alaba on the left-full back position would prove to be crucial while attacking and defending since Alaba excels in both the conditions.

Meanwhile, the Catalans consider David Alaba to be the replacement for Jordi Alaba as the pacey Spaniard left-back has not aged well and has struggled all season long with keeping fit. The Los Blancos believe that the Austrian footballer has been an excellent defender this season for Bayern Munich as he played most of the fixtures as a centre-back and Real consider him to be the replacement for Ramos along with Militao.

The Austrian full-back is up for sale for a rumoured fee around 40 million euros. The price tag set by Bayern Munich for David Alaba can be considered as an absolute bargain since the player is 28-years-old and on his best day is one of the best defenders in the world. Not to forget to mention, Alaba has the capability to play on the wings and midfield as well without any major shortcomings.

Both the Spanish giants are ready to battle it out and it has been tipped that Florentino Perez will make the initial bid for David Alaba to put Bartomeu on a tight rope which could probably lead to a panic signing or overpaying Bayern Munich for their superstar.
