Barcelona lose out on their prime target of the summer to Juventus

Barcelona has been pondering on signing a right-winger for the last two seasons as a potential replacement for Lionel Messi. Ousmane Dembele was considered to be the ideal replacement, however, the two-footed French international has struggled with injuries since his arrival in the summer of 2017 which has cost him over 60 games so far for the Blaugrana.

More from Everything Barca

In the summer of 2018, Barca turned their attention towards signing Bordeaux’s talented right-winger, Malcom. The Brazilian was on the verge of signing for Roma and the Italian club had everything prepared as fans were waiting for their new player at the airport, however, the Catalans hijacked the operation in the last minute and signed Malcom for 41 million euros.

The Brazilian had it all in him to be the ideal back-up for Lionel Messi, Malcom was fast, quick on the ball, skillful and had an eye for goal. However, surprisingly the board decided to sell the young talented winger to Zenit Saint Petersburg in the summer of 2019 for 50 million euros including all additional costs.

Since then Barca has been on the look for a right-winger to switch roles with Leo Messi as the captain has caught up with age and has entered the final phase of his contract.

Barca now plan on signing the Premier League’s lethal winger

Barcelona has been considering to sign their former player, Adama Traore, who had left the Camp Nou to seek more game time. Traore has transformed into a literal “beast” and can be described as a “nightmare for defenders” due to his physique and pace.

Traore accelerates like a sprinter both with and without the ball and has a sweet right-foot to striker the ball as well. The former La Masia graduate has scored four goals and has provided nine assists so far making him one of the most dangerous wingers in the Premier League.

However, Juventus and Manchester City are reportedly ahead of Barcelona in the race to sign the Wolverhampton winger, according to Sports Illustrated. Pep Guardiola plans to replace his German speedster, Leroy Sane, who is now officially a Bayern Munich player, with the Spanish speedster Adama Traore.

Juventus plans on adding pace to their attack next season and Sarri considers no one else other than Traore to build a quick pacey counter-attacking side along with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala up front.
