Barcelona sign a striker who was on the radar of Liverpool

Barcelona have shown interest to sign offensive players.

Barcelona approached the summer transfer window with the intention to sign Lautaro Martinez and Neymar who could play alongside Lionel Messi, Ansu Fatti, Antoine Griezmann and Luis Suarez in the offensive half of the field for the Spanish giants. However, due to lack of funds cause by the outbreak of the coronavirus Quique Setien has struggled to allocate sufficient funds to sign the offensive duo.

The Catalan giant have also hinted that they are keen to establish a younger squad over the summer transfer window. Players such as Ivan Rakitic and Arturo Vidal are being sold over the next few weeks, Barca has also started to look for long term replacements for players such as Gerard Pique, Sergio Busquets and Luis Suarez who are approaching the end of their careers.

The Spanish giants have signed a young striker.

The Express has stated that, Barca are on the verge of completing signing Gustavo Maia from Sau Paulo. The 19-year-old Brazilian striker was heavily linked with moves to Liverpool and Atletico Madrid but has chosen to join the Camp Nou in the upcoming season. It is suspected that Gustavo might find himself playing with Barcelona B as well as the under 23 years old squad where he will have to prove himself before attaining an opportunity to play in the main team. Barca could also try to loan the young Brazilian international for a season to a club where he can get regular game time in order to further develop his skills.

Even though the club has signed Gustavo they must keep trying to sign their primary transfer targets Neymar and Lautaro Martinez as well as a world-class defender who can replace Samuel Umtiti and Junior Firpo who are set to leave the club in the upcoming season.
