Barcelona and Real Madrid are left awestruck.

Barcelona and Real Madrid have not been at their level best this campaign but some moments of individual magic have taken them through. While they are still two of the world’s best clubs, it’s no secret that they need rehauling and a goal-scoring striker is something which the rivals are in mutual need of.

Erling Braut-Haaland had grabbed Europe’s attention over the last few years and the Spanish duo was in the running to sign the Norway international since January. However, Borussia Dortmund, who could guarantee him playing time picked him up from RB Salzburg in the winter and it’s fair to say that he hasn’t disappointed one bit.

Diario GOL reports that both the teams have decided to pull out of his race after his off-field activities have been strictly in disaccord with the club’s culture and principle. Following the culmination of Bundesliga, he has been seen on holiday and caught drunk with his friends on one occasion, whereas he was also seen cutting trees with a chainsaw.

While he has been a phenomenal player thanks to the 44 goals that he scored across 2019/20, some conducts are clearly not acceptable by clubs and such are one of them. Especially in the situation of a pandemic, Haaland has disrespected the reputation and impact of a football compelling the La Liga giants into making a decision against him.

Neither club will want such a player.

Clearly from Barca’s perspective it’s a good thing given that they’re already in a tumultuous situation and cannot afford any more lapses in the dressing room. Ousmane Dembele is anyway proving a nuisance whereas one of the reasons why Ronaldinho had a short-lived career at the Camp Nou was due to the fact that he’d arrive intoxicated to training.

Meanwhile, Madrid seem to be even more strict with their policies over signing as nothing about a player’s off-field actions has come to light from the White House in recent years. Haaland certainly would’ve been a great addition to either clubs, but with two clubs who are influential with things beside football as well, signing him wouldn’t be a step in the right direction.
