Barcelona are set to offload a huge superstar this summer
Barcelona are carrying two heavy-weight burdens now. One is Ousmane Dembele and the other is Philippe Coutinho.
As per Mirror, in a desperate attempt to raise funds in a bid to sign Inter’s Lautaro Martinez, the Blaugranes have reportedly offered the services of the Brazilian star to Arsenal and Newcastle.

Coutinho is a failed experiment at Barcelona and does not fit in well with the team dynamics. Moreover, back when he was at Camp Nou; he was only a faint shadow of the player the Blaugranes wanted to bring to Camp Nou. After his stint with Bayern it was thought that the Brazilian star might have finally found a new home, but the Bavarians refused to acknowledge the £70 million clause in the contract which allowed them to buy the 26-year-old. He had a decent stint at the Allianz arena, finding the net 8 times and assisting on 6 occasions.
It seems Barcelona’s focus hasn’t shifted from Lautaro Martinez and they continue to pursue him. However, the only factor preventing them from launching an al-out offensive in their efforts to bring the Argentine to Camp Nou, is the lack of funds. Hence the idea behind the attempt to offload the Brazilian star is to generate enough funds to complete their Martinez-saga.
While Arsenal have been linked to the 28-year-old in the past, owing to the current financial situation, a permanent transfer seems impossible for the Gunners while a loan deal does look feasible. However, the weekly wages of £200,000 for the winger is something that the Gunners cannot seem to afford all on their own and therefore they would need the support of the Blaugranes; who are reportedly willing to lend a hand in this matter.
Coming to the idea of Coutinho at Newcastle, the probability of this deal is highly dependent on the club’s successful takeover by the Saudi-backed Conglomerate and the result of the PL directors’ and Owners’ test that they will have to go through. It is believed that the likes of Chelsea and Spurs are keeping a close watch on the situation as well.
The point here is that the deal with Arsenal ultimately depends on Barcelona and the Catalan giants should do everything in their power to get rid of the 28 year-old and generate some funds which would allow them to replace Luis Suarez and in all likelihood, give the Argentine icon in Lionel Messi a reason to stay at the club.
