Paris Saint-Germain desire Barcelona star for Neymar’s transfer.

Barcelona have been chasing Paris Saint-Germain for signing for quite some time now, but to no avail, as the Parisiens have been reluctant to offer any deal involving Neymar. The COVID-19 pandemic, however, has affected the finances of every club in world football with PSG being no different.

More from Everything Barca

The French side are now forced to re-evaluate their priorities with their world cup winning superstar, Kylian Mbappe, also being wanted by Real Madrid. The Ligue 1 champions seem to be in financial trouble as they have to convince Mbappe to sign a contract renewal by offering a massive salary to the Frenchman and thus have agreed to sell Neymar but for a player in return.

While Club President, Josep Maria Bartomeu, previously spoke to RAC 1 and insisted that the Neymar deal didn’t seem possible with the huge financial burden it would put on the club, Lionel Messi remained adamant about it. To that effect, the Catalans even offered two promising players in exchange and looks like the tide turned for them.

The Catalans have finally been the recipient to good news with the hope of securing Neymar back to Camp Nou. Neymar had a record-breaking signing of 220 million euros to the French side back in 2017. While Kylian Mbappe and the 28-year-old do shine for the club, the French club still couldn’t secure the Champions League title and are finally ready for a deal with the Spanish side with Neymar constantly reminding them of his desires.

According to El Chiringuito TV, the French have offered the Spanish Giants a deal with a fee of 80 million euro, if the Catalans also include young Ousmane Dembele in the deal. Seemingly, this would be very welcome by the Spanish side who have been looking to free up space in the squad and raise finances by selling the 23-year-old anyway.

The forward has been struggling at Camp Nou ever since his arrival at Camp Nou, continuously being haunted by recurring injuries. The young Frenchman could surely look to excel in his homeland if he stops being adamant about proving himself to Barcelona.

Is The Deal Worth It For Barcelona?

While it is true that Dembele has struggled at the Camp Nou, the club themselves are to be blamed for the end result. The French international joined the club at the age of 20 and was immediately regarded as the permanent successor to Neymar. While his abilities and talents reflected the same, in reality, Dembele needed just one thing to succeed, Patience. Patience that Barca refused to have when dealing with the young superstar.

Barca have a similar superstar now in the form of Ansu Fati, who has been treated with much more care and dedication. Fati, despite his promising talent, has not been forced to immediately be a permanent member of the starting XI and has been chosen rarely, so as to not hinder his development with injuries.

Dembele, however, did not have the same luxury and has been injured for most of his Barca career due to the club’s poor training regiment that did not cater to his needs. Trading Neymar for Dembele is not really a recipe for success as the Brazilian star is already 28, while Dembele at 23 years of age still has time to prove his worth.

This is the same reason the French side have opted to demand Dembele instead of Griezmann as they are aware of the fact that the youngster could still potentially develop into a great asset. Perhaps Barca could convince PSG to choose another player like Philippe Coutinho or Antoine Griezmann.

Should Barca trade Dembele for Neymar?
