Suarez drops a bomb on Messi’s future at Barcelona while on an interview

Luis Suarez has had a difficult season this year for Barcelona as the former Liverpool striker has struggled with injuries during the course of the season and has deteriorated rapidly with age. The six seasons that Suarez has spent at the Camp Nou since his move from Anfield in the summer of 2014 has seen the South American striker average 24 goals a season in the La Liga Santander.

More from Everything Barca

Suarez’s personal best season was the 2015/16 season in the league when the former Ajax man scored a stellar 40 goals in the Spanish league and was an unstoppable force. However, this season, the Uruguayan international has struggled with injuries that have limited his explosive style of play as the number 9 of Barca has scored just 15 goals this season and has one more game to play.

The striker has already entered the final 12 months of his contract which is set to expire alongside his best teammate and friend, Lionel Messi. Since Suarez is already 33-years-old has rapidly regressed over the years, it is high time for the striker to think about life beyond Barcelona since the Catalans will certainly not renew his contract.

While on an interview with Mundo Deportivo, Suarez gave an insight into the club and the current situation while also mentioning the future of Messi’s and his own career.

Suarez’s statement on Messi’s future and threat

The draw against Atletico Madrid at the Camp Nou had given Real Madrid the much-needed breathing space from the Catalans as the Los Blancos moved higher up the table and were closer than ever towards clinching the title.

The poor display against Atletico Madrid saw a furious Leo Messi ignore the advice that Quique Setien and Eder Sarabia were instructing during the cooling break. Rumours had also sparked that the captain had grown tired and had considered not to renew his contract with Barca who are on the verge of becoming a laughing stock.

Luis Suarez confirmed the rumours were true as the marksmen stated that to keep the Argentine forward at the Camp Nou, the board must fulfill their winning project that was promised to Messi ages go. The Champions League trophy is something that Messi has been wanting for a long time that was promised by Bartomeu as he planned on building an unstoppable squad, however, the true reality has been seen after being knocked out by Roma, Liverpool and maybe Napoli could be next on the line.

"“What he would like is a winning project, an exciting project,” Suarez on what it would take to keep Messi at the Camp Nou, according to the Mirror."

Luis Suarez went on to drop bigger hints

"” Leo will take the decision based on what’s best for him”,   “If he needs a change, he will know what he needs for his own well-being.”, according to the Mirror"

Suarez’s statement that Messi’s decision would be based on what is best for him could signify that if the Catalans do not make serious changes over the summer and next season then Messi will certainly leave.

Barcelona is currently a mess under Josep Maria Bartomeu and it is definitely not the best club for the world’s best player to compromise his rich legacy. A fresh start is what the club needs and proper cleaning from the players to the officials at the club to put Barca back on the map.

Lionel Messi has served Barca for 20 years and has always acted in the best interest of Barca, however, if Barca cannot change and get their act straight then Messi certainly would not want to continue at the club that would risk his legacy.
