Barcelona makes their superstar signing available on loan to Liverpool

Barcelona are known to be financially weak for the next transfer window, especially after the outbreak of ongoing coronavirus pandemic.  They have now, like many others, have opted to find more creative ways to balance the books and bring in new talent to the squad.

More from Everything Barca

Strapped with under-performing talents like Ousmane Dembele and Antoine Griezmann, alongside an aging squad with Luis Suarez, Ivan Rakitic, Arturo Vidal, Sergio Busquets and many more being 30 plus, the board will definitely be looking to fill the ranks with quality reinforcements after a disastrous season.

One such player who is deemed to be the perfect man to raise some funds is none other than Barca’s expensive failure, Philippe Coutinho, who had a whopping 160 million euro transfer (world’s second most expensive at the time) to Camp Nou back in 2018.

The 28-year-old evidently was unable to live up to his expectations and had a disappointing spell with the Spanish side before being loaned out to Bayern Munich, as Barca looked to cut their losses and get some return from their expensive investment.

The Brazilian national always desired to join Lionel Messi and wear a Blaugrana shirt to glory but he didn’t succeed in making a lasting impression, especially under former Boss, Ernesto Valverde. His ambition and desire did, however, lead him to leave his former club, Liverpool, in an unpleasant manner, with Coach Jurgen Klopp admitting his reluctance and disappointment at letting the midfielder leave.

After failing to find a suitable destination for Coutino due to the ongoing pandemic as clubs are unable to provide the asking transfer fee, Blaugrana have now decided to loan Coutinho at a mere cost of 10 million euros, and with the player’s agent trying to transfer him back to the Premier League side, Liverpool have the opportunity to gain back their then star player.

While the Spanish Giants are looking to gain money for ambitious transfers like Lautaro Martinez and Neymar, the Reds could definitely do with an attacking midfielder in the team. What’s troublesome is the fact that Klopp might not want to take back the Brazilian due to the way he left, although he has been told to take him back should he provide a formal apology. The fact also remains that Liverpool have recently found a promising player, Curtis Jones, from their own ranks with a similar play style and they might not be ready to rescue the already struggling star when they have an available alternative with a bright future.

With a 10 million euro fee, and the player’s desire to return to the Premier League side, if Liverpool doesn’t take the offer, Barca might also look to Arsenal and Newcastle as potential targets, although they haven’t heard anything concrete yet.

Foot Mercato reports that the Gunners are planning a swap with the Catalan giants for their very own flop in the form of Mattéo Guendouzi. The Spanish giants are keen on removing Coutinho from their wage allotment to gain a struggling yet young defender in return. At 21 years of age, Guendouzi is without a doubt a player with immense talent but his recent performances with Arsenal show that he has a long way to go in order to reach his potential.
