Messi puts forward a new ultimatum to the board of Barcelona

Lionel Messi has lost his cool with Barcelona for the very first time after spending 20 long years at the Camp Nou. However, Messi’s anger and outrage can be justified as the club is no longer what it once was.

More from Everything Barca

The last five seasons have seen Barca gradually decline into the total mess it is presently, meanwhile, arch-rivals Real Madrid have revolutionized over the years into an unstoppable force. The Catalans won their fifth and last Champions League title in 2015 and since then Real Madrid has conquered Europe’s summit thrice consecutively.

Given the current situation that prevails at the Camp Nou, it seems like Barca might just become the next AC Milan or Manchester United. Without Lionel Messi in the team, this squad is hopeless as they are completely reliant on the Argentine forward.

The only three standout performers for the Blaugrana have been Lionel Messi, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, and Clement Lenglet. However, a team cannot achieve success or silverware as football is not an individual game but a team sport.

Lionel Messi has considered not renewing his career that is set to expire in the summer of 2021 and there is absolutely no reason why Messi should stay at a club that is on the verge of becoming a mid-table team.

What Barcelona requires is a complete change right from the players to the staff of the club and that is what Messi has demanded in his new ultimatum.

The new ultimatum proposed by Lionel Messi

Diaro GOL reports that the captain of Barca has first demanded the departure of five players from the squad. Messi believes that these five players only hoard onto the wage of the club while having little to no impact. The five players are Ousmane Dembele, Philippe Coutinho, Samuel Umtiti, Nelson Semedo, and Junior Firpo.

Leo hopes that the departure of the five players would generate sufficient funds to sign Lautaro Martinez and Neymar who has been wanted figure at the Camp Nou for a long time. Emerson Royal has also been included as right-back is available for just 12 million euros and would be a huge addition for the club defensively.

Since Quique Setien does not make the captain’s plans next season, the Argentine forward has shortlisted former Barca man, Xavi Hernandez, however, the Spaniard has already signed a contract extension with Al-Sadd and it seems highly unlikely that Xavi would breach his contract.

Nonetheless, this is the ultimatum that Messi has put forward as a take or leave it offer. The captain certainly wants the best for Barca, however, if changes positive changes are not made then Messi will walk out in 2021.
