Barcelona squad have picked their favorite to replace Quique Setien.

Barcelona have chosen a former player as the top pick to replace Quique Setien. The current boss took over from Ernesto Valverde mid-season, in January, but has had a turbulent run ever since.

More from Everything Barca

With the worst luck imaginable, he joined a Barca squad where the majority of the players were injured during the course of the campaign. While he’s a significant improvement from Valverde, he has a long way to go before he can earn the squad’s trust. After the recent loss of the Spanish league title, however, he may not be awarded the chance to redeem himself.

The Catalan side have also already lost the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup, and this could be a trophyless season for the Blaugranas if they don’t win the Champions League. With the current state of the squad and the management, it does seem highly unlikely that they will manage to secure the title against the tough competitions.

To improve the dressing room quality and lift spirits, Club President, Josep Maria Bartomeu, will surely look to appoint someone the squad believes in and the man picked for the job is none other than club legend Patrick Kluivert.

The Dutchman has scored 122 goals and has 59 assists in the 257 appearances he had made for the club across all competitions. At the mere age of 18, he was the star of the European Cup in 1995. At just 44 years of age, he has won himself the title of National Coach in his country.

Currently working as the academy manager for Barca, he is well-respected by the team and could turn the tide for the Catalan side. With Messi’s demands of bringing someone with grit and character, he fits the bill with his quality on-field and his likable personality.

Being a critical part of the integration of Frenkie de Jong in the team, and also incorporating the young talents, the likes Riqui Puig and Ansu Fati, he could do wonders for the club. He is also multilingual and could perhaps get across and relate to everyone across the wardrobe. While the decision lies in the hands of Bartomeu, the Barca team is surely ready for the transition.

Can Kluivert be the solution for Barca?
