The Italian side contacted Barcelona to negotiate for the youngster.

AC Milan have relentlessly pursued the signing of Emerson Royal and have made contact with the Barcelona to negotiate. The full-back currently plays for Real Betis, but his transfer rights belong to the Catalans who intended to bring him back in 2021.

Mundo Deportivo reports that Nico Schira, an Italian journalist, reported there was another meeting of the two sides for the possible transfer of the Brazilian. While the Catalans seemed open to the negotiation, the 30 million euros is too steep a price for the Italians.

Although Barca are open to the exit of Emerson, it might be more of a financial decision than one for the club’s growth. The 21 year old could fit very well in the current first team and could be a great addition to the squad. The Spanish giants should perhaps rethink the sale to avoid losing yet another youngster from their ranks.

The sale is not only disadvantageous for the Catalans, but also Betis who fear losing their talented right-back who has been a regular starter for them despite his young age, due to his immense potential and skill. The deal when Barca bought Emerson, in association with Betis, was for him to continue there for a year then join Camp Nou. Now, however, with Nelson Semedo and Sergi Roberto playing well, Barca are looking to get a good price for the youngster.

Its evident why AC Milan want him, as they want to reinforce their left side and he could be a great addition to the team for years to come. Other clubs are also showing interest and with Barcelona open to a lucrative offer, it seems doubtful the talented player will remain with the Blaugranas past 2021.
