Arsenal superstar awaits Barcelona’s response amid contract renewal talks.

Arsenal forward, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, has refused to sign a new contract to remain in the Premier Leauge in the hopes of securing a move to Barcelona.

More from Everything Barca

The Gabonese international has been on the radar of the Spanish giants for quite some time now as they regard him as a reliable and cheaper alternative for Luis Suarez.

The 31-year-old, however, cannot be a long term solution for the Catalans, which has forced them to opt for a younger successor like Lautaro Martinez. The issue with the Argentine’s move from Inter Milan is that the Italian side are refusing to let their star player leave.

His earlier 111 million euros release clause has since expired and the Nerazzurri are now the ones deciding the price tag. Barca have offered 70 million euros along with a player like Arturo Vidal, Junior Firpo, or many others in exchange, but the Serie A side are demanding the cash to be increased to 90m.

The negotiations between the two sides have since been at a standstill with both sides claiming that they will continue once the Champions League campaign is completed. Meanwhile, former Arsenal captain, Aubameyang, has refused to extend his stay at the Emirates Stadium until he receives a definite answer from the Spanish side.

His current contract expires next year and despite the Gunners offering him multiple proposals, the striker wants to wait for Barca before locking his future in London. He remains an option for the Catalan giants as they are strongly considering his signing if they fail to secure Lautaro in the next window.

Aubameyang has been in great form under Mikel Arteta and recently helped them beat Manchester City in the Semi-Finals of FA Cup by scoring the only two goals of the match. If Barca do sign the Gabon international. they would have to quickly find a young alternative as both Aubemeyang and Luis Suarez are over 31 years of age.
