Barcelona prepare to show their striker the door this summer market

As Quique Setien and his men focus on the Champions League round of sixteen tie against Napoli at the Camp Nou, the board of Barcelona continues to make plans for the summer transfer market. Lautaro Martinez of Inter Milan still remains the favourite signing on the club’s agenda despite the competition the Catalans now face after Manchester City have entered the race as well for the Argentine forward.

More from Everything Barca

Forbes reports that Barca has reportedly considered selling Martin Braithwaite this summer after the Danish forward has only been at the Camp Nou for just five months so far. The report suggests that Braithwaite’s departure this summer could be because of the possible arrival of Lautaro Martinez of Inter Milan.

The 29-year-old Danish forward has scored 7 goals so far for the Blaugrana since signing in February. Barca had paid a reported fee worth 20 million euros to sign Braithwaite as an emergency striker after Ousmane Dembele was ruled out for the season after sustaining an injury.

Barca had also lost Luis Suarez to an injury before Ousmane Dembele’s hamstring issue and the Catalans had not made a signing during the winter market leaving them with just Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann upfront along with a young Ansu Fati.

Antoine Griezmann has had to compete with Braithwaite since his arrival as the Danish forward can also play as a left-winger. Quique Setien has opted to play the former Leganes striker on several occasions this season that has stirred a lot of criticism and attention from the media.

Braithwaite’s possible departure this summer would ensure more minutes for Griezmann who was signed for a whopping figure worth 120 million euros and has still not delivered as promised. The signing of Martinez from Inter Milan seems to be a highly likely operation as his previous release clause has expired.

What do you make of Braithwaite’s short stint at the  Camp Nou? was he a success? and should Barca consider selling him this summer?
