It seems the fury of Messi has settled down at Barcelona.

As per Mirror, Barcelona captain Lionel Messi believes that his team can turn around things at the Champions League and for that to happen, a lot must change.

This season, the fans saw the morale of the team hit an all-time low when a frustrated Messi called his team “weak” and the current set-up, incapable of winning the UCL. These comments came in the aftermath of the disastrous form of the Blaugranes post the resumption of the league which basically saw them handing over the La Liga title to Real Madrid.

Messi is of the opinion that the team has had enough time to reflect on a poor season and they could come out stronger than before, out of this. The 33-year-old has acclaimed that calm heads will be the key to success, going forward and it will help his teammates be careful in order to save Barcelona from another Liverpool-like situation.

To the naked eye, it seems the team has lacked clarity in front of the goal and has relied heavily on Messi when it comes to the attacking front. The defence has been in shambles with Umtiti continuing his love-story with injuries. There has been no balance in the playing XI and the squad is in a desperate need of a revamp. They need replacements for Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Gerrard Pique. The average age of the squad is at all time high and that is something that Quique Seiten will look to change.

Messi has made it clear that the current team cannot win the UCL and that the team needs signings such as Neymar or Lautaro Martinez. However, with the lack of enough funds, a transfer swoop for either of them looks highly unrealistic and the 33-year-old has realised that he needs to rely on his teammates to turn things around in the second leg of the rounds of 16 against Napoli. The Barcelona captain also acclaimed that what needs to be said has been said and now it is time to translate words into performances.

The Blaugranes have got enough time ahead of their crucial fixture against Napoli at the UCL and they need to utilise this time period wisely. The board shouldn’t expect to gain too much from the transfer market this season and they need to have faith in the current set of players.
