Former Barcelona chief to infleunce the Presidential election

Former Barcelona chief makes shocking remarks regarding the 2021 elections.

While many, including Barcelona maestro Lionel Messi, hope that the current club president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, resigns early from his role, the Barca chief only has until 2021 to, negatively or positively, impact the club.

The 2021 presidential elections are said to bring in a new era of football at Camp Nou with Xavi Hernandez being named as the ideal manager along with the signing of elite European talents from around the world like Miralem Pjanic, Lautaro Martinez, Neymar and many more.

Meanwhile, fans hope that the next president will be someone willing to put the club’s performance ahead of its finances, and also ensure the squad’s success not only in Spain but also in the Champions League.

Mundo Deportivo, however, reports that former Barca president, Sandro Rosell, will use his influence during the elections. During his interview, while presenting his book, ‘Un Fuerte Abrazo’, Rosell spoke to L’Esporiu about his ideologies for the club’s future.

The former chief claims that the current favorite to coach the future Barca squad, Xavi Hernandez, is not qualified for the role due to his lack of experience as a manager for a European side.

"“Xavi has the basis to be a good coach, but I will give an opinion when he has been leading a European team for some time,” He claims.Source Mundo Deportivo"

Sandro also defends the current president by stating that Bartomeu is the second most successful president in Barca history.

"“Globally, I think [he did] very well. In relative numbers, he is the second most titled president in history.”"

All the presidential candidates have already publically stated their intentions for the club with a few named as the favorites to land the job, however, Rosell claims that he will certainly use his power to influence his own ideal candidate.

"“Of course I will influence the elections, a lot.”"

Meanwhile, it is a well-known fact that Barca desire to operate according to the philosophies of club legend, Johan Cruff, and it is this philosophy that Setien failed to execute which resulted in this season’s failures.

However, Sandro believes that Barca are most successful when they go against the philosophies of Cruff, which was exactly what former president, Joan Laporta, did. Laporta went against Cruff’s suggestion of not signing Brazilians.

"“The most successful president is not Laporta. Laporta is the third. And the first titles he won were with the team Cruyff didn’t want. He wanted triple-A, Aimar, Albelda and Ayala, and instead, we made a team of Brazilians. We took out the Dutch and signed the Brazilians.”"

Laporta is planning to run for elections once again in 2021 but Sandro has strongly suggested against the idea as he believes it will be a tough competition, “These elections will be a massacre”

Rosell also believes that the current squad, especially the veterans like Lionel Messi, Gerard Pique, Luis Suarez, and Sergio Busquets, have a lot of power.

"“The squad are in charge too much, the squad needs to be renewed. Not all of it, but a good part of it.”Source Evening standard"

If the statement of influence is true, then the idea that the next president will bring in a positive change while ensuring a more Johan Cruff’s philosophy based football could potentially not become a reality.
