Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has had a good season with the North Londoners and has been their best player by far and has scored 25 times, having played 42 games. However, the only factor stopping him from continuing his peak at the Emirates is the lack of European football that Arsenal have been facing in recent times. The club’s downfall has saw them reach the level of spectators for the PL title and the Gunners haven’t qualified for the UCL since their 2016-17 season and the 31-year-old wants quality European football and wants to compete against world-class teams. In addition to that, the Gunners failed to qualify for the Euro League through the Premier League and as we established, their only chance at securing a Euro spot lies in their ability to topple Chelsea in the FA Cup final.

The former Dortmund forward has identified Barcelona as his next preferred destination while also looking closely at the fact that the Blaugranes are in desperate need of a quality striker to replace Suarez. Their primary target, however, remains the Argentine, Lautaro Martinez. With the 23-year-old set to cost around £100 million, the Catalan Giants are bound to look at alternatives this season owing to their financial restrictions.
Aubameyang is a decent player and could very well replace Suarez as a consistent marksman and there shouldn’t be any doubt about it. The only factor that might concern Barcelona is his age and he is 31 now. While he hasn’t really showed any signs of slowing down, he could be seen running out of his purple patch in the next 2 seasons. A distant possibility of both the parties being satisfied is if the Blaugranes look to loan him for a season and then take things forward from there.
Arteta doesn’t want to lose his best player and he is of the opinion that the 31-year-old is happy at the club and hasn’t showed any insecurities about his future. Arsenal will have no real choice though, not if they want to let their in-form striker go for free. They will have to sell him for a cut-short price if the 31-year-old decides against staying at Emirates.
