Mauricio Pochettino has been approached by many including Barcelona.

After losing his job at Tottenham Hotspur despite taking his Premier League side to the Champions League finals against Liverpool, the Argentine coach is yet to be appointed by another, with Barcelona now emerging as a potential destination.

More from Everything Barca

Marca reports that several teams have considered the former Espanyol boss with special interest coming from Barca, but Pochettino has been unimpressed by the respective clubs’ projects.

The Premier League side, Newcastle, are looking at a new era of football under rich ownership which resulted in massive transfer plans including an established manager. The Magpies approached the jobless coach with a multi-million euros worth contract as they aim to compete against the big six of English football.

Meanwhile, Benefica hoped to sign the coach in order to develop the many youth players in their ranks, in a similar way Pochettino did with Tottenham and Southhampton.

Meanwhile, Juventus have also been looking to replace Maurizio Sarri as they have lost confidence in the 61-year-old but Mauricio awaits for a project that suits his desires.

The Argentine international is taking his time to find the right destination with a project that he agrees with, with Barca hoping to sign the coach as a one-season solution. The current president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, has only one season remaining in his tenure and thus wants to end on a positive note. While Setien remains the coach this season, many are speculating his exit ahead of next season with French coach Laurent Blanc and Patrick Kluivert also being named as the two favorites.
