Barcelona boss Quique Setien’s plan for the Champions League
Give Attackers Purpose and Drive
Both Luis Suarez and Antoine Greizmann have been struggling this season. The Uruguayan at 33 years of age has been a shadow of his former self but remains a more reliable striker than the others available in the squad.
While Martin Braithwaite will not be playing in the Champions League due to his mid-season move to Camp Nou, Antoine Griezmann is the only other player to fill the striker role. Playing predominantly on the left-flank, many blame his role as a winger instead of a center-forward for his failure at Barca. The reality remains that the French international has lost his touch even as a striker, as evident in the match against Real Valladolid where the former Atletico Madrid forward played as a lone striker. It was during this match that Griezmann missed a golden chance at scoring in a match that ended 0-1 in the favour of the Catalans.
Both Griezmann and Suarez must find their confidence ahead of the Champions League competition to ensure that Blaugrana remains a serious contender for the throne.
