Barcelona hope to land Manchester United’s Portuguese superstar
Barcelona remains optimistic in the transfer market as the Catalan club hopes to make a comeback next season after having a disastrous 2019/20 season. If Quique Setien manages to beat Napoli at home then the former Real Betis manager would most likely continue to be the first team manager of Barca.

The Cantabrian coach has made it clear that if he is going to continue next season then heavy reinforcements are needed. Although the board is fixated on signing Lautaro Martinez from Inter Milan and Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain, Setien has raised the concern regarding a weak defensive backline which needs to be solved immediately.
Gerard Pique, Jordi Alba, and Junior Firpo have underperformed this season, meanwhile, Clement Lenglet and Nelson Semedo have been decent for most of the season. Although fans might argue that Semedo has been horrible upfront while attacking, however, the presence of the Portuguese on the right back helps the team defensively as Semedo uses his physicality at his best while defending.
Nelson Semedo has been tipped with a move away from the Camp Nou this summer to the Premier League and Pep Guardiola‘s Manchester City are currently the front runners for his signature.
Earlier rumours had stated that Pep was willing to exchange Joao Cancelo for Semedo, however, the Catalan coach’s recent comments where he praised Cancelo seems like he will not let his star right-back leave this season.
With Cancelo out, Barca shortlist Manchester United’s right-back
Having said that, Eldes marque reports that Barcelona has now shortlisted Diogo Dalot of Manchester United. The 21-year-old Portuguese right-back of the Red Devils has struggled with game time this season as Dalot has featured just four times this season in the Premier League.
The signing of Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace last summer has ruled out all possibilities for Dalot to grow as a player leaving no other option but to consider a move away. Dalot is up for grabs at just 18 million euros, a figure that would cause no harm to Barca.
Although the player is not yet at the quality to play for a club of Barca’s stature, Dalot is still young and at 21 the player has shown immense versatility as he can play in the midfield, right-back, and left-back.
If Nelson Semedo is to leave this season then Barcelona will negotiate with the Red Devils of the Premier League for Diogo Dalot.
