Real Madrid are set to pay the release clause of a Barcelona target
Unlike Barcelona who has struggled this season, Real Madrid has transformed under Zinedine Zidane in the 2019/20 season. Nobody expected that Real would be crowned champions of Spain after the disastrous 2018/19 season, however, Zidane’s reappointment certainly changed the atmosphere in the locker room of the Bernabeu.

Neither did anyone expect Barcelona to go trophyless this season after they made such lucrative signings in the summer market such as Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid, Neto from Valencia, Junior Firpo from Real Betis and Frenkie de Jong from Ajax Amsterdam.
However, nothing has gone to plan for the Catalans, and their only hope to win a trophy this season would be the Champions League which seems like a far shot given their current form. Meanwhile, Florentino Perez of Real Madrid has already turned his attention towards achieving success for the 2020/21 season as the president has shortlisted several young signings for the summer.
One of the younger players from the La Liga Santander that has entered the radar of both the Los Blancos and the Blaugrana is Marc Roca. After selling Arthur Melo to Juventus, Barca certainly requires a young central-midfielder that cover the role of the Brazilian, however, Zidane has shown a serious liking to the player as well.
Roca is an aggressive central defender that is often found pressing the opposition in the midfield, a feature that Barca certainly requires to win possession back. The 23-year-old is a brilliant passer on the ball and is often found switching the flow of play by crossing the ball to either flank.
The Spaniard can even play as a central-defensive midfielder due to his physical built and passing technique which also makes him one of the most talked-about talents in the Spanish League.
Reports state that Florentino Perez is ready to trigger the release clause
Diaro GOL reports that Real Madrid’s president has considered triggering the release clause for Marc Roca if any other interested club makes a move for the young midfielder. Currently, the Whites have kept the player on hold as the club focuses on offloading James Rodriguez and Gareth Bale.
Since RCD Espanyol has been officially relegated from La Liga Santander, Marc Roca will be available for cheap and the Catalans have the golden opportunity to land the player at the end of the season without hampering their limited transfer budget.
Roca’s style of play would certainly be a massive addition for Quique Setien, however, the youngster would have to compete with Ivan Rakitic and new signing Miralem Pjanic from Juventus.
Nonetheless, Roca is a future star that could be signed for a song this summer. It all boils down to whether Bartomeu would snatch the youngster before Florentino Perez does.
