Barcelona will not pursue Neymar’s transfer anymore.

Barcelona have already made their first signing of the transfer window after they sealed Miralem Pjanic via a swap deal which saw Arthur Melo head to Juventus. It was clearly not something which was appreciated by the Catalan side’s fanbase and the media, but the transfer went ahead nonetheless and now Barca look forward to what’s next.

More from Everything Barca

Paris Saint-Germain winger Neymar is the next player on their radar as is Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez. However, a rigid financial situation means that the Blaugrana can only afford one. The Brazil international was thought to be of priority given his quality and relationship with the squad, but he will not be pursued anymore, El Desmarque claims.

Neymar is likely to cost Barcelona upwards of 150 million euros and his wage demands will by sky-high as well. Moreover, the way he left the Camp Nou in 2017 is still not seen in good eyes by the board and for that reason, it is believed Lautaro Martinez will be of superior precedence in comparison to the 28-year-old.

There may be no big signings this summer.

Lautaro Martinez is expected to wait at Inter Milan for another year as Barca may not be able to afford his 111 million euro price tag at this point in time. The striker has done exceptionally well for the Serie A giants and has been seen as a successor to Luis Suarez since a couple of months now.

Instead of going for Neymar from PSG, Barca are expected to be in the market for Juan Bernat who is in the final year of his contract at the Parc des Princes. The Spaniard is seen as a replacement to Jordi Alba at 27 and will definitely be an upgrade from Junior Firpo, who has certainly been an absolute waste of resources in the Catalan city.

Do you think Lautaro Martinez would arrive prior to the 2020/21 season?
