Barcelona are set to fulfill Lionel Messi’s greatest desire

Barcelona prepares to take on Napoli at the Camp Nou this weekend and Quique Setien will be hoping that his side comes out victorious from the clash as the Cantabrian’s job is on the line. The former Real Betis manager was quite uncertain about his future at the Camp Nou and the 61-year-old even stated that he may not coach the club for the remainder of the Champions League.

More from Everything Barca

Earlier rumours had linked Xavi Hernandez and Ronald Koeman to take over the Cantabrian. However, Xavi had agreed to contract extension with Al-Saad and Ronald Koeman has reportedly considered to stay on with the Dutch national team until the Euro Cup is played.

The next likely candidate to take over

With Xavi and Koeman out of the frame, Josep Maria Bartomeu has shortlisted as an unexpected name to take over as the manager of the club. Diaro GOL reports that Bartomeu has shortlisted Antonio Conte of Inter Milan who has performed a phenomenal task with the Italian side, however, the board of Inter has not treated the manager or the players well so far.

In fact, Conte completed the season with more points than Jose Mourinho’s title-winning side despite finishing second below Juventus. However, the former Chelsea manager has not taken lightly to the way he and his players have been treated by the press and the board.

Reports suggest that the relationship between the president of Inter and Conte has deteriorated over the last few weeks. La Gazzetta reports that the Italian manager will most likely not continue at the San Siro as he has turned his attention towards Barcelona.

It is rumoured that if Quique Setien is to be sacked after the Champions League campaign then Josep Maria Bartomeu will contact Antonio Conte as his first-choice manager.  Conte’s style of attacking football would be a joy to watch at the Camp Nou and the Italian could possibly lead the Catalans to glory in the UEFA Champions League.
