Barcelona have reached the quarterfinals of the Champions League.

More from Everything Barca

Barcelona were able to knockout Napoli from the Champions League after beating them 3-1 in the second leg in the round of 16 match which took place at the Camp Nou. The Catalan giants play Bayern Munich in the quarter-final matches, which is going to be an extremely tough match to win considering the fact that the Spanish club haven’t been effective while defending this season.

In the 2019-2020 La Liga season the club condensed 38 goals over 38 games which resulted in them finishing second in the league behind their rivals Real Madrid. Quique Setien must try to sign a defender who can play alongside Gerard Pique and Clement Lenglet to improve Barca’s defence in the upcoming season.

Barcelona could try to sign Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli.

Napoli’s devastating season has come to an end, the Italian club have finished 7’th on the league table and have failed to qualify for Champions League football in the upcoming season.

Many experts predict that Kalidou Koulibaly might want to leave the failing Italian side and join a club where he would be able to play in the Champions League as well as contend for silverware on a more regular basis.

The Senegal international has an estimated market value of 60 million euros and a contract which keeps him with the Italian club till 2023. Even though Napoli had stated that they won’t be willing to sell the player for less then 80 million euros the club’s inability to progress in the Champions League might reduce the asking price to sign the star defender.

Barcelona must try to sign the world-class defender over the next few weeks before another team approaches Napoli to sign the superstar. The Spanish giants could offer the Italian side players such as Samuel Umtiti and Junior Firpo in a swap deal which could potentially help reduce the price required to sign Koulibaly.
