Barcelona have been struggling to sell Samuel Umtiti

Despite being able to make it till the quarter finals of the Champions League Barcelona need to make major changes to the club over the summer transfer window in order to compete for the 2020-2021 La Liga title in a more effective manner as compared to this season.

The club must work on extending contracts for some of their players such as Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Lionel Messi who have been crucial in the club’s success over the past few seasons and loosing such players will leave the club with a void which will be extremely difficult to fill. Furthermore, Quique Setien must try to sell players such as Samuel Umtiti, Junior Firpo, Ivan Rakitic, Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele to help raise sufficient funds to sign the club’s transfer targets.

Samuel Umtiti is yet to be sold.

Even though the defender has been listed as a player who the Spanish club would be keen to sell over the summer transfer window no official offers have been made till now to sign the world cup winner over this transfer window. There are reports that claim that the French international wants to stay in Barca and prove his worth to the club, Umtiti has a contract which keeps him at the Camp Nou till 2023.

Barcelona must try and include Umtiti who has an estimated market value of around 35 million euros on swap deals to reduce the price to sign their transfer targets. Alternatively the Catalan giants could try and include the French international on a season long loan deal with an attached buyout clause to attract more clubs to sign the French international.
