Barcelona captain Lionel Messi is ready to do the absolutely unthinkable.

Barcelona are nothing short of a downtrodden club for the time being and their misery was further compounded when Bayern Munich left them bruised by an 8-2 margin. The Catalans came up with their worst showing in more than a decade in what is one of their heaviest defeats in more than a century of the club’s existence.

Quique Setien is a dead man walking and will be fired soon. The club will probably have huge changes during the summer in terms of the coaching staff as well as the squad, according to Josep Maria Bartomeu. However, the club’s greatest player ever is showing his nasty side and is all prepared to throw the Blaugrana under the bus.

Lionel Messi has requested the club to let him depart immediately and does not even intend to stay until June 2021, when his contract originally expires, as per Marcelo Bechler, who is most famous for breaking out Neymar’s move to Paris Saint-Germain. The Argentina international is certainly a poor leader, but his demands show his nasty side for sure.

When the Catalans are at their worst in recent history, the captain, who was given a lot of help in his young days by the club wants to leave. Messi’s cowardice is perfectly on show as he has no intention to back a side that’s made him what he is, as the wheels begin to fall. Certainly, the 33-year-old is not setting a good example in comparison to his rival Cristiano Ronaldo.

Speaking of the Portugal international, he joined a Real Madrid side that was overshadowed by Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona and even struggled to make it past the round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League. Cristiano Ronaldo turned the club’s fortunes whereas Lionel Messi is only putting Barcelona and ultimately his whole roster through even worse.

An epitome of a de jure leader who doesn’t even have the spine to face the press, it’s fair to say that the six time Ballon d’Or winner has played a decent enough part in ruining Barca. He might be their go-to person on the field, but off it, his endless demands, contract renewals and blocked signings have come back to haunt the club right now.

What do you think Barca must do in the event that Messi actually ends up leaving?
