The pit that Barcelona have dug for themselves over the past few years is getting deeper. Their dramatic loss against Bayern might have put the final nail in the coffin of their hopes to sign Messi for another season.
As per Mirror, the 32-year-old still hasn’t signed a contract extension with the club and is reported to be closer than ever to an exit from the club. Inter is said to be his next destination. There have been many ties linking Inter to Messi in the recent past and now they’ve only gotten stronger.

Inter President, Zhang Jindong, has been wanting to sign Leo Messi for a long time now and it seems he might make his move for the Argentine Ace. This comes in the aftermath of the 8-2 drubbing that led to Barcelona’s exit from the UCL. Moreover, Messi rumoured transfer to Serie A could also lead to the continuation of the rivalry between Cristiano Ronaldo and the Barcelona talisman.

While the valuation for the 32-year-old has not been disclosed as the Blaugranes remain hopeful of extending his contract, one can expect his market value to be around £120-130 million. It has apparently been a “dream” for the Inter President to sign Messi which would give them a boost in their hopes of recovering the Serie A title from Juventus.
While the rumours look strong, it would be unwise to think that Messi might leave Barcelona even after the rumoured appointment for Roe Koeman. He still has a year left in his contract following which he will have the freedom to leave Barca as a free agent. He might be tempted to give the board another chance and have another go at winning the La Liga with the club. Messi certainly has a lot to think about now, but the player widely considered as the Greatest of All Time, might very well decide to stick with the club in these testing times.
