Josep Maria Bartomeu speaks positively on the future of the club’s captain

The last few days at Barcelona has seen some signs of a positive change for a brighter future. The club earlier announced the dismissal of Quique Setien who failed to make a mark at the club. Yesterday, the Catalans also announced the dismissal of Eric Abidal who has been a controversial figure at the club for a few years as he has acted as Josep Maria Bartomeu’s right-hand man.

The Blaugrana have already taken two drastic steps for the betterment of the club and the next on the line is Lionel Messi’s future. The Argentine forward has reportedly asked the club to sell him immediately this summer transfer window despite being on contract until the summer of 2021.

Messi, who has been a long loyal servant of the club has practically grown tired of the current situation. The 33-year-old believes that a fresh start in his career would do him good rather than continuing at the Camp Nou.

According to Eldes marque, Josep Maria Bartomeu stated in an interview that he had spoken to Leo Messi’s father who has an important say in his son’s future. Bartomeu went on to state that the conversation with Jorge Messi was positive as the club plans a complete revamp over the summer. The president also went on to state-

Bartomeu had also stated that his conversation with Ronald Koeman who is set to take over Setien’s role in the next few days, had made it clear that the team will be built around Lionel Messi. Koeman wants Messi to be the pillar of his team to guide the club to success once again.
