Barcelona still keep close tabs on Neymar and Lautaro Martinez

Although the 2019/20 season will be one to forget for Barcelona, the upcoming season of 2020/21 seems to be optimistic. The Blaugrana have already taken two steps to ensure a brighter future by firing the corrupt Eric Abidal and the incompetent manager Quique Setien.

Ronald Koeman of the Netherlands is expected to be announced as the first-team manager over the next few days. The Dutch manager is aware of the difficult situation he is walking into, however, the former Blaugrana defender is eager on putting Barca back to where it belongs as champions.

Josep Maria Bartomeu will remain as the president of the club until 2021 until the elections, however, till then, Bartomeu is willing to back every action of Koeman to help rebuild the club. First on the cards is the future of Lionel Messi which has been made into a  priority for Ronald Koeman.

The board is working hard on ensuring that Messi stays until the summer of 2021 when his contract expires. The Catalans remain optimistic that Messi will not leave the club this summer after the sacking of Setien and Abidal, who were two individuals that the Argentine simply did not get along with.

Meanwhile, Josep Maria Bartomeu has also spoken about possible transfer this summer market. Neymar and Lautaro Martinez have been the primary targets of the club, however, with the impact that COVID-19 has had on the club finances have lowered the possible chances of signing either of the players.

Bartomeu provides information on the signing of Neymar and Lautaro

Josep Maria Bartomeu provided crucial inside information on a long interview on Barcelona’s official channel, according to the Eldes marque. When asked about the possible signing of Neymar, the president stated that the club tried to sign the player last year, however, it seems like PSG is not willing to let the Brazilian player leave this summer.

However, the president spoke quite optimistically on the possible signing of Lautaro Martinez who would replace Luis Suarez. Josep Maria Bartomeu stated-

"“We have spoken with Inter, we stopped the negotiations for the return of the competitions. We are going to wait for the coach to arrive”- Bartomeu on the possible signing of Martinez"

It seems like the Catalans will renew their interest and talks with Lautaro Martinez of Inter Milan once Ronald Koeman takes over. Luis Suarez has already been linked with a move out of the Camp Nou and Martinez would be the number one priority to replace him.
