Ronald Koeman wants Paris Saint-Germain’s versatile player at Barcelona
Ronald Koeman names PSG superstar as a potential Barcelona signing.
Ronald Koeman’s appointment as the Barcelona head coach has been confirmed on Wednesday, meaning the Dutchman just has one month to prepare for the restart of La Liga. His biggest challenge will be to pick up a mentally impacted squad and prepare them for a fresh start without much playing time as part of pre-season.

With that said, the former Everton manager also has to cater to the fact that his new recruits cannot spend extensively in the summer as a result of poor financial management. Nevertheless, he has made the decision to get rid of a few key players in order to fund the newer arrivals ahead of the transfer window’s closure.
Diario GOL claims that he wants the Catalans’ board to go for Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos. The Brazil international is just 26, but has a solid prowess at the back and is no short of an asset for Thomas Tuchel. To say the least, he will be a fantastic addition to the Catalans’ roster, given his nature.
A fantastic but unrealistic shortlist.
Marquinhos is fantastic on the ball and a complete package. Usually a central defender, he is also capable of playing as a right-back and defensive midfielder and therefore, his signing could see Barca fill in for three positions which need refurbishing. Sergio Busquets has not been great, neither has Nelson Semedo, whereas the options at centre-back are not plentiful.
Paris Saint-Germain however, wouldn’t be willing to sell their star man for anything less than a reasonable price which may well be beyond what Barcelona are ready to spend in the upcoming months. Given Thiago Silva’s departure, Marquinhos’ permanent affixing as a central defender may throw water on the Catalans’ hopes of landing him.
Which other defensive-minded players do you think the club should sign during the summer?
