Barcelona to bid for another Manchester City defender after Eric Garcia.

Barcelona are considering a bid for Manchester City‘s loaned out left-back, Angelino, who has enjoyed a successful season with Bundesliga side, RB Leipzig.

The Spanish international has been with the German side for the second half of this season with reports suggesting a permanent deal could be imminent.

The Catalan side have now joined the list of clubs interested in acquiring the 23-year-old for a reported fee of 30 million euros.

The full-back enjoyed a successful short-spell where he helped Julian Nagelsmann’s side reach the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League. Barca, however, did not enjoy similar success in the tournament, losing 8-2 to Bayern Munich in the Quater final stage.

While the appointment of Ronald Koeman is said to bring major changes to the squad, the Dutchman has a crucial role to play in rebuilding the struggling Barca defense.

While Manchester City’s Eric Garcia has been made a top priority even before Koeman’s arrival with the 19-year-old having a single year remaining in his contract, Koeman has identified another target from the Etihad Stadium.

Reports suggest that Barca are looking to sweep double Spanish internationals from Pep Guardiola’s squad with both Garcia and Angelino wanted by the side. Barca are prepared to pay his transfer value but face competition from Leipzig after coach Nagelsmann confirmed the club’s desire to make Angelino a permanent player.

"“I’m very confident that we can reach an agreement with Manchester City, now that both clubs are out of the Champions League and the focus is no longer on the tournament, Angel is a very interesting player for us and he wants to stay with us.” Nagelsmann said.Source Goal via German newspaper BILD"

It remains to be seen if Barca maintain their interest or look elsewhere for Jordi Alba’s replacement.
