Barcelona wasted Lionel Messi’s  peak years of his career

The last time Barcelona managed to reach the final of the Champions League was in the 2014/15 season with the likes of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Neymar, Iniesta, and Xavi, however, since then the Catalans have failed to progress in the knockout rounds and have been humiliated year after year.

Since then the board of the Catalan club led by Josep Maria Bartomeu and his right-hand man Eric Abidal has tried several different methods to help the club reach the summit of Europe, however, none of it has worked and the humiliating defeat against Bayern Munich showed the true mess that the Catalans are in.

The mistakes carried out by the board who costed several players as the peak years of their footballing career have gone in vain. Players such as Luis Suarez, Gerard Pique, and Lionel Messi out of the lot have suffered the most as these heavyweights of the club was in the prime of their career when the club went through a failed transition that still prevails.

The club since their last Champions League has spent millions of euros and has appointed four managers since then, however, it has had no effect as each year it is always the same story. Atletico Madrid, Juventus, AS Roma, Liverpool, and now Bayern Munich, the same outcome but a different year each time with a lot more money spent each season as well.

It seems like some players at the club have even got tired of bearing the complications on the football field due to the mistakes that were made by the board and one such player is Lionel Messi.

Messi cannot afford to lose his final few years as well

Lionel Messi, the greatest ever footballer cannot afford to squander the final seasons left in him as the Argentine forward is now 33. Barcelona has already wasted five years during his peak years and now the player cannot afford to waste anymore.

It is a well-known fact that Messi has demanded a transfer out of the Camp Nou, however, Messi’s silence in the media regarding the topic makes it a lot more serious as the player would have spoken out if the rumours were fake.

It seems like all those years that were wasted and were gone in vain because of the board might just backfire now as Messi prepares for an exit from Barca after spending over 20 long years at the club.
