Due to the outbreak of the coronavirus Barcelona have a limited transfer budget which they can spend over the summer transfer window.
The Catalan giants have decided to list many of their players in the current transfer window as the club hasn’t been able to win any silverware and achieve their goals this season. Selling these players will also raise funds which can be used to sign the club’s transfer targets. Even though most of Barca’s transfer targets are expected to be an extremely expensive proposition the Spanish giants could try to sign free agents.
Barca could try to sign Malang Sarr
Malang Sarr who played OGC Nice in Ligue 1 over the past few seasons is hopeful to join a new team over the summer transfer window as he has no contract with the French side. The 21 year old Frenchman has added great value to his team over the last few seasons and holds the potential to become one of the best central defenders in the world.
According to the Express, Chelsea have shown interest to sign the defender in the upcoming season. The report further suggest that the English side might loan Sarr out if they manage to bring him to their club in the upcoming season.
Signing Malang Sarr will help remove the pressure off the defensive unit of Barca as he can act as a replacement for Samuel Umtiti who is expected to be sold over the summer transfer window. In addition to being Umtiti’s replacement the 21 year old Frenchman can act as a long term replacement for Gerard Pique.
