Barcelona plan to replace Lionel Messi with his national teammate
The Lionel Messi situation at Barcelona seems to be highly complicated. So much so, this is the first time that Argentine has not spoken out to the media regarding the rumours. Messi has previously been linked with a move out of the Camp Nou, however, the captain has always addressed the media while claiming the rumours to be false. Having said that, so far the player has been quite.

It has been reported that Ronald Koeman had cut Messi’s vacation short to hold an emergency meeting to discuss the player’s future. The meeting was an utter failure according to the reports and the worst is yet to come as Leo Messi might actually vacate Catalonia after spending over 20 years at the club.
Realistically, Messi will most likely continue at the Camp Nou due to his release clause as no club in the world could possibly be in the position to shell out 700 million euros after COVID-19. However, hypothetically, if the Argentine forward pushes for a move and Barca does sell him for a reduced amount, then a replacement is certainly required.
The replacement for Lionel Messi
According to the Daily Mail, Barca has considered bidding for Paulo Dybala of Juventus. The Argentine forward is on a contract until the summer of 2022. However, there have been reports that the player and his agent have considered against signing an extension.
Earlier in the year, Dybala had stated his admiration towards the Catalan club and if Messi is to leave then his replacement would most likely be the 26-year-old Dybala. La Joya of Juventus has been on fine form this season. The forward managed to score 11 goals and seven assists in the Serie A this season which saw him grab the MVP award ahead of his teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.
Dybala’s style of play is quite similar to that of Messi. The 26-year-old is extremely versatile as well as he can play as central-attacking midfielder, right-winger, and as a false nine as well. Barca would have to pay a figure close to 100 million euros if they are to sign the Juventus superstar.
Do you believe Dybala has what it takes to be a success at Barca?
