Barcelona are in the middle of a storm right now and it threatens to take away their only silver lining in a disastrous season, with it.

As per reports, Manchester City are arranging the funds required to land the Argentine Maestro while keeping in line with the financial fair-play regulations. The Citizens hold one of the biggest purses in European football and it is no surprise that such a rumor has found its way to the surface. Apart from them, another club that can easily match the massive release clause for the Barcelona Ace is PSG.

Post the UCL Final in Lisbon, Thomas Tuchel admitted that he would never say no to Lionel Messi and that PSG would be happy to have him on board. Messi to Manchester City is widely speculated, largely because of the relationship that Pep Guardiola and the 33-year-old share. Guardiola is one of the greatest Barcelona managers and he introduced the concept of False 9 to Lionel Messi, a position in which Messi saw himself become the greatest in the world.

Messi would flourish in the Premier League, largely due to his pace and play-making skills and we might even get to see him play in the false 9 position once again. That position had to be abandoned by him because he was already shouldering too much responsibility in the current Barcelona set-up. Messi might be tempted to reunite the with his former manager. While Messi to PSG is largely due to the monetary factors and Neymar.

There is a lot of logistics and paperwork that goes down in these kinds of deals. It is highly unlikely that either of the deals will go through and that’s because Barcelona always find a way to make Messi happy. In this case the solution to his problem looks largely simply. Bartomeu’s resignation might be just enough to have Messi sign a contract extension.

In another set of rumours, it was believed that Barcelona demanded Mbappe in exchange of Messi as the Blaugranes believe that Mbappe might be the perfect replacement for the 33-year-old and can carry the squad in the future. However, PSG will not part ways with Mbappe so easily, especially because Messi is 33 now and he has made his intentions of finishing his playing career at his boyhood club clear.
