Lionel Messi claims that Barcelona did him dirty this season

The ice has finally been broken after Lionel Messi’s exclusive interview with GOAL. The Argentine forward looked dejected during the interview as he spoke about the hardship he and his family have had to face during the last few weeks.

More from Everything Barca

The embarrassment against Bayern Munich in the Champions League sparked rumours that Messi wanted out from Barca. However, according to the club legend, the player wanted out from almost an entire year and had conveyed his message to the president at the start of the season.

The very reason why Messi is willing to stay at Barcelona this season is because of the insane 700 million euros release clause. According to the player and the father, the duo believes that they did not have the opportunity to exercise the right to leave Barca, as the pandemic had disrupted the schedule.

Messi had the right to leave Barca until the 10th of June on a free transfer, however, La Liga was still being played which means that the player had no other option but to play.

Why didn’t Messi take this matter to the court?

The common question that everyone has in their minds is why didn’t Messi take Barca to the court? Suing Barca would only be suicidal for Messi as the club would have support from La Liga and UEFA which means that player would have no chance of overturning the decision.

Messi clearly stated in his interview that he wanted to leave and that the 700 million euros release clause has prevented him from doing so. The captain of the club even stated that Bartomeu has failed to keep his promise of letting him go for free and that the management under him has been a disaster.

An unmotivated Messi will see out his contract under Ronald Koeman and will most likely sign for Manchester City in 2021.
