Barcelona saviour is set to renew his contract in 2022 against all odds

The recent turmoil of Barcelona has sparked severe negative attention from the press and media. However, amongst the chaos that is prevalent at the club and in the media, there is a new light of hope. Mundo Deportivo reports that Marc-Andre ter Stegen is set to renew his contract in the summer of 2022 when his current contract runs out.

More from Everything Barca

This is certainly a massive deal for Barca and the player himself. The last few months have seen Ter Stegen being linked with Chelsea, Juventus, and Paris Saint-Germain. The three mentioned clubs were willing to offer the German goalkeeper a lucrative contract that would make the world’s highest-paid goalkeeper.

However, Mundo Deportivo now states otherwise that the player will most certainly extend his stay at the Camp Nou.

It is a well-known fact that the German international does not get along with Josep Maria Bartomeu. A few months ago, it seemed like the player was not willing to sign a contract renewal, however, with the presidential elections next year it seems like the goalkeeper is optimistic about the new board.

Chelsea still show interest in signing Ter Stegen

However, the future still remains uncertain as Frank Lampard of Chelsea plans to sign the goalkeeper in the summer of 2021. A move to the Premier League would certainly be a new challenge that Ter Stegen would welcome and under Lampard, a winning project could be promised.

Next. Lionel Messi will most likely not leave Barcelona in 2021 and here’s why. dark

Victor Font or Joan Laporta seem to be the frontrunners to overthrow Josep Bartomeu and either of the pair would certainly have to promise a winning project ahead of the one that Lampard has in plan.
