Barcelona must defend better in the upcoming season.

More from Everything Barca

In the 2019-2020 season Barcelona conceded 13 more La Liga goals in comparison to rivals Real Madrid were crowned the Champions. The Catalan giants must bring in changes to their defence to compete with Real Madrid for the La Liga title as well as with other European teams for the Champions League title in a more effective manner . However, Barca who are under the management of Ronald Koeman are yet to sign any defenders over the transfer window and seems focused on spending the clubs limited transfer budget to sign offensive players such as Memphis Depay from Lyon.

Over the last few weeks many reports have suggested that the Spanish giants have shown interest to sign many central defenders such as Kalidou Koulibaly and Dayot Upamecano as well as full backs such as Nicolas Tagliafico and David Alaba who could help improve the way the squad performs in the upcoming season.

Dayout Upamecao is expected to leave RB Leipzig in the near future.

Dayot Upaecano has emerged has one of the most promising budding defenders in Europe after displaying phenomenal performances for RB Leipzig this season. Teams such as Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus and Barcelona have shown interest to sign the 21-year-old Frenchman over the summer transfer window. According to Goal, Upamecano is set to stay in Germany over the summer transfer window but I expect to leave the club in the near future.

Even though the German side are adamant to keep the young Frenchman in their side in the upcoming season Ronald Koeman should try and tempt the team with a swap deal and include defensive players such as Samuel Umtiti and Junior Firpo. Alternatively, the club could try and sign Dayot Upamecano on a loan deal with an obligation to buy before any other European team tries to sign the budding defender.
